Note that if you want an action to repeat (as on many industrial robots) you need to return the mechanism to its original starting position at the end of the teaching sequence.

Supervisory Control:

In supervisory control, the programmer wants the robot to be able to respond semi-independently- the operate sets general goals, while the robot autonomously avoids obstacles, controls motors, etc.
