Lego NxT Roboticst-Introduction
What is Robotics?
A robot is an autonomous system which exists in the physical world, can sense its environment, and can act on it to achieve some goals.( Maja Mataric)
- Autonomous: Not controlled by a person
- Exists in the physical world: Not simply a program
- Senses its environment: Has sensors- such as touch, sound, distance, and light
- Can Act on it: Has motors and other effectors( sounds, displays,etc) that enables it to do things
- Can achieve Goals- The robot's behavior is controlled by its program
Is a search engine a robot? Is a thermostat a robot? Is a DVD player a robot?
